OneRepublic Covers Duffy Who Covers Hot Chip and More

OneRepublic recently did a few shows in the UK and paid Jo Whiley a visit. Taking on Welsh breakout Duffy's hit, Mercy, frontman Ryan Tedder doesn't only lend his voice to this tune on the Live Lounge but also performs it at live at another show.

Meanwhile Duffy dropped by the Live Lounge in February and added some soul to Hot Chip's Ready for the Floor.

And BRIT graduate Adele performed her own rendition of The Strokes' Last Night.

Mariah's New Single Out Today

Besides performing her new single live on MTV's The Hills, Mariah Carey's Touch My Body is available on iTunes today. So don't forget to pick up her album on April 15.

And she also joined Martha, Usher, Jessica, Donald and Marc and is in a new set of commercials for Macy*s.

Raconteurs Plays Fair on New Album and Panic's Pretty. Odd.

Like Radiohead, the Raconteurs want to give their fans the choice. Although you can't pay what you want, Consolers of the Lonely will come in all formats possible. Vinyl? They go it. MP3...got that, too. And CDs for all you OGs out there. The band wanted to release all these formats tomorrow (March 25) in order to give everyone a fair chance at the goods, they said on their MySpace page. So make sure to pick up your copy tomorrow.

And for all you Panic fans, the anticipated Pretty. Odd. will be dropping tomorrow as well. The band's sophomore effort has been compared to The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper album. And by the looks of their latest video, that comparison may not be too far off.

The Vines Drop Not 1 But 2 in '08

Fans of Australia's The Vines will be treated two albums in '08. On May 5, the band will be releasing a 'Best of' compilation—marking the final album with Capitol. But not to worry, they just finished their fourth album with producer Rob Schnapf and it'll hopefully drop sometime this summer.

And for any SXSW attendees, The Vines will be playing Pangaea on Colorado Street tomorrow night. They're also playing sold out shows in New York and Los Angeles on March 17 and March 19.

'4 Minutes' of Pop

Power popstars Madonna and Justin Timberlake along with master producer Timbaland have teamed up on 4 Minutes. Although a French radio station leaked the song a few weeks ago, the track has already received some positive feedback. But you can be the judge when it digitally drops (supposedly) on March 24.

This isn't the first time Justin has collaborated with musical icons. He produced Duran Duran's single, Falling Down.

JT and Madonna were also in New York's Waldof Astoria Hotel on Monday to celebrate Madonna's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame along with John Mellencamp, Leonard Cohen, The Dave Clark Five, Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, The Ventures and Little Walter.

If you missed the ceremony, you can catch it on VH1 Classic on March 14 at 8 p.m. or March 15 at 3 p.m.

Idol Covers the Lennon/McCartney Songbook

Think what you want of American Idol, but how could I deny the show of Cover Wednesdays when its contestants had the chance to perform songs from the Lennon/McCartney.

David Cook rocked Eleanor Rigby and was definitely a favorite of mine (not because it's one of my favorite songs).

Amanda Overmyer definitely knocked You Can't Do That out of the water. But instead of tapping the inner Beatle, she sounded more like Janis -- obviously not a bad thing...

Carly Smithson's rendition of Come Together can be described simply as brilliant. She gives Joe Crocker a run for his money.

SXSW Music Jumps Off Tomorrow

Unless you've been hiding under a rock, SXSW has kicked off in Texas. And tomorrow the music portion of the eight-day festival begins with some sweet acts including Simian Mobile Disco, The Kills, hometown kids Voxtrot, Yeasayer, Saul Williams and The Ting Tings.

And for those of us who can't make it to Texas this weekend, DIRECTV subscribers will be treated three days (3/13-3/15) from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. EST of live coverage on Channel 101. Here's a sneak peak.

Pete Doherty Writes a Musical

(CREDIT)

Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty has teamed up with former Libertines bandmate Carl Barat and actor Douglas Hodge to write a musical about the ups and downs of a breakout band. Planned to stage in London's Donmar Warehouse, the show is still in the working stage, and there's no set date on its debut.

Pete and Carl weren't the first musicians to take on writing a musical. Last year, Franz Ferdinand were in talks about writing one about the West End. And Belle and Sebastian have created "God Help the Girl"—set to be filmed next year.

Vampire Weekend Will Play SNL This Saturday

It looks like the Columbia U. rockers Vampire Weekend will be hitting up Saturday Night Live (with Amy Adams) this Saturday. And although most of us are excited for the performance, the band announced on their blog that they'll be postponing their Orlando and St. Augustine shows to June 7 and 8 as well as cancel their set at Florida's Langerado Music Festival.

And for those of you who've heard about Christopher Tomson and the London hit and run, not to worry he's doing well and won't be missing the gig on Saturday.
